New Development Combines Office and Luxury Residential Towers

Good Fulton & Farrell is the design architect behind a new mixed use development in Uptown. Located on the corner of Akard and Cedar Springs, this upscale mixed use development features two towers in a partnership between Gables Residential and Granite Properties. Within steps of Victory Park and the Arts District, the modern design complements the architectural landscape on the edge of downtown and Uptown and will offer spectacular views. The unnamed project will feature a 13-story, 375,000-square-foot office tower and a 17-story, 296-unit residential tower sitting atop a mixed-use podium with retail and restaurant space, a fitness center, service amenities and parking. The residential tower is on track to achieve LEED NC Certification, while the office tower seeks LEED CS Silver Cerftification. The project is expected to be complete by the end of 2009.

First Baptist Dallas Criswell Center Honored at Topping Out 2007

The Criswell Center at First Baptist Dallas was honored at the annual Topping Out awards ceremony on Tuesday, May 8, 2007 at the Arlington Convention Center.

Ten projects in the Dallas-Fort Worth area received an award, which recognizes and honors excellence in the fields of development, architecture and construction that positively impacts the community.

Awards are handed out in honor of the collective accomplishments of the entire team responsible for a project's success.

Under the design stewardship of Good Fulton & Farrell Architects and GFF Interiors, the goal was to design a space integrating the old with the new. "The vision is to satisfy both young and old by acknowledging the deep rooted wishes and memories of the existing members, referencing the past and creating a bright, vibrant entrance to attract a younger generation, the future of this organization," said David Swaim, AIA, project architect and associate principal at Good Fulton & Farrell Architects.

More than 40 projects were submitted in a wide variety of fields. Learn more about the award and winners here.

Arlington Highlands Celebrates Grand Opening Weekend
Arlington Highlands, one of the largest non-mall shopping centers in North Texas, celebrates grand opening weekend with a festival of activities on Saturday, May 5, 2007.

Located at Interstate 20 and Matlock Road in

Arlington, the 836,000 SF project features

several high-profile tenants such as Studio Movie Grill, P.F. Chang's and Borders Books & Music Café.

Developed by The Retail Connection in concert with Connected Development Services, Arlington Highlands offers a lifestyle center component coupled with power center users.

The small shops and restaurants anchor the core of the project and convey the overall character of the development while along its perimeter resides larger retail users. This integration of a small shop town center-like feel with large anchor retail makes for a well-rounded mix of new development that will serve as a precedent for the Interstate 20 corridor.

Designed by GFF Planning and Good Fulton & Farrell Architects, Arlington Highlands recently

received the honor of Best New Retail

Development from the Dallas Business Journal. Learn more about Arlington Highlands here.

Architects Design Exhibits at NorthPark Center

Good Fulton & Farrell celebrates Architecture

Month with an exhibit at AIA Dallas Retrospect

2007.

Retrospect is AIA Dallas' opportunity to

introduce architects and architecture to the

public through over 50 display pieces. The

exhibit further informs the public of the many

endeavors of AIA Dallas and the benefits and

contributions that quality design has on the built

environment and countless aspects of our lives.

Throughout the month of April, Good Fulton & Farrell's exhibit was on display along with other

area design firms at NorthPark Center between

Dillard's and Macy's.

"Each pylon displays series of images focusing on GFF's recent work as we celebrate our 25th

Anniversary," said Nick McWhirter, design coordinator at GFF. Three identical translucent

white plexiglass slabs glowing from within "convey a minimialist aesthetic and function solely as the armature for framing a video slideshow," said McWhirter.

Also featured at NorthPark Center were the two

Best in Show Winners from Art of Architecture, a juried art exhibit designed to engage students to study the aesthetics of architecture and presented by AIA Dallas.

Clark Key, AIA, project architect at Good Fulton & Farrell and chair of the AIA Dallas Education Outreach Committee adds, "Any organization working with youth is providing an opportunity for that youth to gain new experience, maturity, and develop their own style through interaction with adult role models, guides and coaches. Art of Architecture is a program we hope raises awareness of design in the general populous as well as exposes youth to a potential career direction."
