First United Methodist Church Allen

Allen, Texas

First United Methodist Church located in Allen, Texas has a vision to be a church that embraces all generations to join on a life-changing Christian journey to change the world. FUMC’s facility did not properly support their vision for their existing church community and hindered growth potential of reaching new members. To address their concerns the church hired GFF Architects and defined three priorities for a new building project; provide a central welcome space that exudes an atmosphere of exceptional hospitality, create a secure and inviting area for children that appeals to young families, and generate a dynamic youth area for fun, fellowship and worship that serves as a place to embrace the faith. A new children’s addition creates a consolidated and secure space for kids which was previously dispersed between 3 separate areas. The children’s addition and relocation from existing spaces provides youth a newly renovated space all their own with breakout classrooms and dedicated area for games, fellowship, and worship in addition to allowing the church to consolidate their offices into one wing. Directly off the existing sanctuary connecting them all is a two-story atrium which becomes the new “front door” of the church providing a clear entry point from the main parking as well as much needed additional space for fellowship and connection. The focal point of the atrium is the churches new Missions Café which opens to a large exterior patio and courtyard, allowing the church to serve the Allen/Fairview community and beyond in a new dynamic way.
