Preston Meadow Lutheran Church

A new 700-seat sanctuary and small classroom addition were designed as a second phase for this suburban Dallas church. The front door for the campus was re-organized to face away from the busy street, while a generously sized plaza and glassy narthex serve as meeting and greeting spaces for church patrons and a linkage to the existing buildings. A tall bell tower announces the entrance to all portions of the site. Regionally quarried Salado limestone forms a massive base for the sanctuary, and is exposed inside and out. A composite siding (designed to imitate metal shingles, since Plano does not permit metal siding) was used to visually lighten the upper volume of the sanctuary and bell tower, and to unify the wall with the roof.
