The Hockaday School – Science Building Renovation and Expansion

Dallas, Texas

GFF Architects is pleased to announce the start of construction on Phase One of the Hockaday School Centennial Center. This phase of the project includes a total renovation of the existing two-story science building, the addition of a third floor of teaching spaces and the creation of the Lyda Hill STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering & Math) Institute. Middle- and upper school science labs will be reorganized by discipline, with chemistry on the first floor, physics on the second and biology on the third, to take advantage of a new green roof teaching space. A new three-story atrium with a Foucault pendulum will provide visual and physical communication between floors, as well as an interdisciplinary connection between science and the adjacent Fine Arts facility.
