University Medical District

Dallas, Texas

Accelerated by the expansion of the DART light rail system, this area of Dallas is in a period of transition away from light manufacturing and warehousing.  GFF Planning was asked to study this important 550-acre district and develop a strategy for growth that was both market driven and visionary. The plan organizes the district into neighborhoods (both residential and office), and incorporates a substantial greenbelt network to insure a pedestrian-friendly scale. The plan also reflects the continued expansion of the hospitals and the UT Southwestern campus, and prescribes mixed use development at the light rail stations.
