The Cityplace Tax Increment Reinvestment Zone achieved great success in collecting the full amount of tax increment prior to the sunset of the district scheduled for 2012. The final projects to be funded from the TIF coffers included the extensions of Noble, Oak Grove and Howell Streets through the neighborhood and creation of three pocket parks in strategic locations. GFF Planning and TBG Partners collaborated on the master planning and design of these improvements.
Of greatest interest is the development of the intermodal “Station Square” pocket park at which The McKinney Avenue Trolley has a streetcar turntable adjacent to the redesigned Uptown-West Village DART Station. Total project cost for these improvements is $12 million.
